Marlyn Hoksbergen

Mrs. Hoksbergen is a 4th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, an ATA Martial Arts Certified Instructor, and a Level 3 ATA Chief Tournament Judge.

In addition to traditional Taekwondo, Mrs. Hoksbergen has earned certifications as a SHARP Self-Defense instructor, and Spontaneous Knife Defense instructor.

Mrs. Hoksbergen is a former tournament competitor and earned several State and District Champion titles since she started competing in 2003! She has qualified for and competed in the ATA Tournament of Champions on two occasions – earning Top Ten awards in several events!

Mrs. Hoksbergen started her Taekwondo training in 1999, and in 2003 came onboard with Triumph as one of our original instructors. Over the years she has taught classes at our Pella, Newton, and Pleasant Hill facilities, and impacted thousands of lives through her focus, drive, and dedication to Songahm Taekwondo.

In addition to her passion for martial arts, Mrs. Hoksbergen serves the community of Pella as a Supervising Nurse at Pella Regional Health Center!

FUN FACT: Mrs., Hoksbergen has been married over 40 years, and is a Grandma to five grandkids – three girls & two boys. She is an active and avid outdoorswoman and loves camping, kayaking & hiking. She has kayaked one ocean (Atlantic) and three of the Great Lakes. To support her love of camping, she owns several campers, two of which are vintage.
