Biography
Mr. Stursma began his Taekwondo training in 1972 as a student at Iowa State University. In 1985 he joined an ATA school in Oskaloosa, and earned his 1st Degree Black Belt in 1987. Mr. Stursma has been training and teaching Taekwondo for more than 50 years!
Mr. Stursma has taught at several ATA schools over years, including: Oskaloosa, Albia, Newton, Pleasant Hill, and currently teaches at Triumph in Pella.
Mr. Stursma worked for the Iowa Utilities Board as the Manager of the Safety and Engineering Section, and retired in 2017 after 36 years of service.
FUN FACT: Mr. Stursma is an organic gardener that does a lot of canning/freezing/ pickling of produce – much of which he gives away to friends and family. He was an active horseback trail rider, but no longer owns any horses – but still helps his neighbor with theirs.
