Biography
Shane is our Lead Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Coach at Triumph, and is a working law enforcement professional, with almost 30 years of experience in the criminal justice field. He serves as the Chief of Police for the Pella Police Department.
During his tenure, Shane spent over 22 years as a SWAT operator, rigorously training in a variety of high-risk topics to include defensive tactics and firearms. Shane was certified as an agency trainer, specializing in law enforcement response to resistance methodologies and tactical strategies.
As a certified Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission state instructor, Shane served as the Lead Defensive Tactics Instructor for the Lake Technical Institute of Public Safety, teaching jiu-jitsu, ground defense, and related basic/advanced programs for recruits and other trainers for over 14 years.
In 2007, he joined U.S. Police Instructor Teams as the Chief Operations Officer. As part of this international training company, Shane taught Jiu-Jitsu, Krav Maga, Judo techniques and other law enforcement defensive tactics and strategies to police professionals in Brazil for 13 years.
Shane earned his Black Belt in Taekwondo from the Academy of Martial Arts through the United Martial Arts Society. He holds a Gracie Survival Tactics (GST) Level One certification through Gracie University Jiu-Jitsu, and has attained the rank of Purple Belt through Master Carlos Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Shane is currently certified as a Law Enforcement Defensive Tactics Instructor through the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA).
FUN FACT: Chief McSheehy is a talented guitar player, and performs solo and with a local band in Pella.
